Landlords need to make sure that tenants’ homes meet and are maintained to current Decent Homes Standard and must take all reasonable step to ensure the health and safety of tenants in their homes.
The Decent Homes Standard team at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government explained what’s expected of landlords in terms of the decency and quality of their homes. This will include:
- Housing quality and the standards that guide this
- What the national picture looks like
- Electrical safety and the housing health and safety rating system (HHRS)
